Passing of “Voice of Reason” radio host, John Anderson, mourned by ministry
April 18, 2011, John Anderson, the founder of Lighthouse World Ministries
and the owner of the unforgettable bass voice that ferried Bible students
through scholarly debate on his weekly radio program, passed, leaving a void
that is unlikely to be filled!.
“The
Voice of Reason” radio program, which he hosted for a dozen years, was just
the latest of Anderson’s broadcast legacy, and for him, the most valuable.
Challenging listeners to dig deeper into the verses of the Bible, he would
not allow assumption to stand on its own. Instead, he would press for
clarification that was wholly supported by Scripture, calling on Martin
Luther’s test that rocked the Christian world in 1517, “sola Scriptura””…
test Scripture only against Scripture.
In
Anderson’s boundless quest to uncover the truth of the Bible, he spent more
than 30 years delving deeper and deeper into the volume, often calling on
colleagues, and consulting a vast, personal resource library.
“John would not be
limited by lack of information. He was always searching out new books, many
of which were actually quite old, to harvest information that had been
overlooked or even buried by modern Bible scholars,” said Ann Marie
Anderson, John’s wife and partner in the ministry. “If he reached an
impasse, he looked until he found an accurate account to substantiate or
refute his conclusions. What most scholars admired about John was his
passion to find the truth, even if it meant altering his opinion,” she
added. “He wanted to know, not be proven right. To him, truth was
right, pure and simple” Even with the loss felt by Anderson’s passing,
friends and colleagues have jumped in to make certain that his passion does
not lose steam. In more than three decades of study and scholarly debate,
Anderson produced many documentaries, and authored books, all of which are
still available on this website, Anderson’s latest book, “Satan, An
Authorized Biography,” uses fiction to characterize who and what is Satan,
explained through a captivating story. The book can also be found at
www.amazon.com,
for $14.99; ISBN: 978-0-9795587-0-2.
While “The Voice of
Reason” is in hiatus for the moment, the ministry has plans to continue the
teaching program under the tutelage of Anderson’s close study partner and
brother in Christ, Lloyd Dale. Dale was a frequent guest and associate
elucidating the host’s studious format. Dale is also co-author with Anderson
of the latest book,
Christian Myth-busters,
which is soon to be released.
“I’m
still struggling with the fact that my husband, best friend and Bible
teacher is gone,” said Ann Marie Anderson. “But John would want us to
continue his work and keep searching out truth, and sharing it… whatever it
takes.”
John
Anderson was memorialized on air in a special edition of The Voice of
Reason, April 24, 2011, where friends and followers recalled his remarkable
passion for studying the Bible.
